Grading for the Oxford Knee Score

Score 0 – 19

This indicates significant knee arthritis. Surgery may be required. You should see your family physician or an orthopaedic surgeon.

Score 20 – 29

This suggests moderate-to-severe knee arthritis. A doctor's evaluation and X-ray are recommended, and you may need to consult an orthopaedic specialist.

Score 30 – 39

This indicates mild to moderate knee arthritis. A medical checkup and X-ray may be beneficial. Non-surgical therapy, such as exercise, weight management, or medicines, may be beneficial.

Score 40 – 48

This shows that your knee function is generally good. Treatment may not be needed.
